Living in the Indiana Music Scene
School’s out for the semester at Indiana University, and STACKS//CULTURE is back to form with another cut of what they do best.
Operating inside of the prominent Indiana music group Home Planet, STACKS//CULTURE (consisting of Detroit natives Billy Winters and Rob DePollo) has just released their first major follow-up single after dropping a sharply-produced LP with Lil Yon in August.
The duo’s track, “Skipped Class”, spends little time in its static-laced, melancholic introduction before blooming into a spacious and modern ambiance with a decidedly erratic and refined drum section.
Beeps and flickering hi-hats decorate pockets of the hook as keys reverse and pool over. With tasteful quips of post-trap production via distorted fills and sample chops, STACKS//CULTURE offers the chilled celestial sounds of “Skipped Class” some charbroiled grit.
